New Riders: The Essential Grooming Kit

If your child has already started lessons, or maybe you've even leased or bought your first horse, you're most likely wondering what to do next. Building your first essential grooming kit is a great way to learn the basics of interacting and caring for your new horse. With such a large selection, choosing the tools you need can be difficult. We'll start you in the right direction, but good luck deciding on colors! Need every tool to match?  Working on your color coding genius? Want a rainbow of colors at your fingertips? Done. Over time, your tool kit will continue to grow, along with your knowledge of horses. But, let's start with the bare minimum. You'll need a rubber curry, a stiff dandy brush, a soft body brush, and a hoof pick. The first, and one of the most essential tools, is the rubber curry. Working the curry through your horse's coat in small circles loosens debris such as dirt, dander, and shedding hair with ease while stim...

Make Your Tack Last: Tips for Leather Care

So, you've bought a nice piece of leather tack?  Keep it looking brand new and get your money's worth with these simple tips. Proper cleaning, conditioning, and storing is key to making a good quality saddle or bridle last a lifetime. Leather is a natural, biodegradable material and must be treated as such, but with a little time and dedication, you can easily keep your tack in top form. Looks are not your only concern when it comes to leather care, however. You also want to ensure the rider's safety. Worn or damaged leather can break unexpectedly, causing problems for both horse and rider. All leather equipment should be wiped down after you ride, every time, whether you're schooling, showing, or enjoying a relaxing trail ride. Although it's not always practical to do a full cleaning of your saddle every single time you ride, even using a clean, damp cloth to quickly wipe it down will remove irritants such as sweat, salt, dirt and other debris...

After years of research and development, by 2011, Arianna was ready to show Le Fash to the world. Arianna's designs for Le Fash...

The History of The Tack Room

It all started with a pickup truck and a passion for riding. The Tack Room was started in 1954 by legendary polo player Cyril Harrison, who sold tack out of the back of his truck. Well known Camden horsewoman Hope Cooper eventually converted it into a storefront business. By 1963, The Tack Room had made its way into the Cushmans' lives, starting with Ida Cushman, John's mother, who purchased it from Cooper. It has been a family owned enterprise ever since. John and Sandy bought The Tack Room from Ida in 1978. Although a smaller business venture at the time, the store consistently performed well. Moving from one building to another slightly larger one certainly helped The Tack Room's expansion, but its shelves still filled quickly. From there, the business continued to grow at a rapid rate and space became a necessity. When the Winn Dixie of Camden decided to close its doors, John Cushman saw an opportunity knocking. He had a vision of what this business co...
